Green Action Centre is known for promoting practical green solutions. But social justice is also a driving principle of sustainability. For that reason, we recently endorsed The View From Here 2015: Manitobans Call For a Renewed Poverty Reduction Plan.
A recent article on rapid transit funding reports Mayor Bowman as saying, “…council has yet to identify where its funds will come from,” and that the administration has suggested the funds could come from raising transit fares and/or property taxes. Green Action Centre responded with a letter to the Mayor pointing to more sustainable and fair funding options.
Thirty years ago, a group of ordinary citizens came together to rally for environmental change. Their collective energy and leadership resulted in the founding of what is Green Action Centre today.
