Cycling in Vancouver
Although I love Winnipeg, there are many things that are missing. People are too attached to their vehicles and are actually encouraged to do so as a result of urban planning. In Vancouver, I was happy to see many traffic calming designs and many signs for bike routes, which are even marked on the overhead street signs.
Manitoba’s greenhouse gas emissions
Manitoba’s Auditor General reported that the province is on a course for failure on its promise to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 6 per cent below 1990 levels by 2012. As of 2008, Manitoba’s emissions were actually 17.6 per cent above 1990. We’re heading in the wrong direction and there’s still no plan in place to get us where we need to go.

Keep genetically engineered fish off the menu
Canada is set to become the launching pad for a new wave of radical biotechnology. The first genetically engineered (GE) animals for human consumption are on the menu for regulatory approval in the United States and GE salmon is the entrée.
