A free, week-long winter challenge for ALL Manitobans

February 3-9, 2019

The Jack Frost Challenge is a free, week-long challenge for ALL Manitobans.

Gather a team of 1-5 family members, friends, or co-workers to complete 130 collective kilometres of outdoor activities. This could include walking, running, biking, skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, & more!

All you need to do is register and log your kilometres of outdoor activity during the week of February 3 – 9, 2019.

We hope you join us for the 8th annual Jack Frost Challenge.

Inscrivez-vous en équipe d’une à cinq personnes pour faire le patinage, la bicyclette, le ski, la raquette ou la marche d’un total collectif de 130km sur une durée d’une semaine, de 3 au 9 février, 2019.

Rassemblez vos collègues de travail, membres de famille, et amis. Ensuite faites votre chemin dans la neige en glissant, en pédalant, en marchant et vous avez la chance de gagner des prix.

Most Kilometres (Team)

Awarded to the team with the highest number of logged kilometres during the challenge week. 

Only those teams with 1-5 persons are eligible. 


Most Kilometres (Individual)

Awarded to the individual with the highest number of logged kilometres during the challenge week.

Only those who registered as solo/unaffiliated participants are eligible. 


Most Kilometres Kid (- 14)

Awarded to the kid with the highest number of logged kilometres during the challenge week

Only those who registered as under 14 years of age are eligible. Kids may participate as part of a team or individual/unaffiliated.



Use the sustainable transportation app GoManitoba during the Jack Frost Challenge for an additional chance to win!

By completing actions on the app you will get entered to win a prize. For every 5 actions you do with the app you’ll be automatically entered to WIN. 


Team Name

This winning name is determined by popular vote after the challenge is over!

Funny and creative names are encouraged.

Join Fun Run Crew 204 at 6:30 am for a 4-5 km run in Saint-Boniface, Winnipeg at the corner of Taché/Provencher at  the end of Esplanade Riel Bridge.

They run every Monday, no matter the weather! 

Tuesday February 5

Skate to Work Day 

Try a different kind of commute! Utilize the incredible lakes and rivers we have in Manitoba to get yourself to work by ice.

Winter Walk to School Day brought to you by Active and Safe Routes to School

Thursday February 7

Cross-Country Ski Night

A cross-country ski with the Green Action Centre team at Windsor Park Nordic from 6:00 – 8:00 PM

You can find Green Action Centre at the corner of Assiniboine and Kennedy handing out hot chocolate, coffee, and doughuts from 7:00 – 9:00 AM

Try it Out Day! at The Forks

To wrap-up the eighth annual Jack Frost ChallengeGreen Action Centre presents Try it Out Day!
Green Action Centre’s sustainable transportation team will be set up on the river from 1:00 – 4:00 PM to provide visitors with the opportunities to try out winter sporting equipment for free, such as; fat bikes and snowshoes. They will provide hot chocolate, educational resources, and enthusiasm for winter activities! The equipment is generously provided by Wilderness Supply Co. and White Pine Bicycle Co..
