Stay Cool, Manitoba!❄️

With the days getting shorter, and winter here (it’s really making up for that warm fall now!) – that means another Jack Frost Challenge is around the corner! This year is going to be a big one – it is our ELEVENTH annual event!

Many people see winter as the time to hibernate indoors, which has serious mental and physical health consequences. Studies show that children play lessolder adults walk outdoors less, and people, in general, are less physically active in winter.

We want to encourage you to stay active and get outdoors this winter, this event is the perfect motivator to do just that!

The Jack Frost Challenge aims to combat the winter blues, which are especially blue in Manitoba. We have a tough winter, which makes us tougher.

Who is up for the Challenge?

The Jack Frost Challenge is a free, week-long challenge for ALL Manitobans.

Manitobans can stay cool and celebrate winter by getting outside and active! The objective is to form teams of 1-5 people and complete a combined total of 130 kilometres of outdoor activities. This may include walking, running, cycling, ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and more! Challenge colleagues to by department and see who gets the most km’s, call up family members to get them to try a new activity to reach the goal, workplaces encourage employees to take a long walk during lunch, race your friends to see who completes a ski-trail the quickest, share photos of your activities, along with so many other ways to get active and connect with your friends and family that week!

This event encourages Manitobans to get outdoors in winter, helping to make active and sustainable transportation an approachable option all year round.
