This year’s Jack Frost Challenge for Kids takes place February 5th-11th, 2023. Registration is now open, sign up here! Get a head start and join in on the fun on Winter Walk Day, happening on February 1st, 2023. Use our 10 Things You Noticed Sheet to mark down what you find!

Jack Frost Challenge for Kids is a free, week-long winter challenge for all Manitoba schools and families to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. Make the event work for your class or family by using the Jack Frost Challenge 2023 Families & Classrooms Bingo Card, tracking kilometres accomplished outside, or both! The goal is to get outdoors, have fun, and maybe try something new (ever cross-country skied or built a winter playground?)

Here is how it works:

  1. Print and use our Jack Frost Challenge 2023 Families & Classrooms Bingo Card to check off 8 accessible and engaging activities together or individually. Activities include making snow art, spotting an animal on a walk, and commuting in the cold – to name just a few!
  2. Record how many winter kilometres your class or family accomplishes using our Kilometre Tracking Sheet. The more kilometres recorded, the closer you are to a prize! Kilometres can be tracked from using the Bingo Card as well.

Do many things, or do one thing, whatever works for you and your family or class.

Here are two ways to be entered to win a prize:

  1. Take a photo as you complete activities and tag @GreenActionCentre online with the hashtag #SayFreezeMBKids to document your challenge achievements and be entered to win! The more posts the more entries for a prize. If you don’t feel comfortable posting online, you can also send us photos at asrts@greenactioncentre.ca For more chances to win, complete the full bingo card and send an email containing a picture of all 8 activities to asrts@greenactioncentre.ca for 5 additional entries!
  2. Your completed Kilometre Tracking Sheet can be sent to asrts@greenactioncentre.ca by February 15th, 2023 for a chance to win! Prizes will be awarded to the classroom, family, and individual with the most kilometres.

We are looking forward to seeing how you, your family, and classroom have fun in the snow during Jack Frost Challenge for Kids 2023!
