What is Waste Reduction Week?
Waste Reduction Week is part of a Canada-wide celebration of supporting habits and practices that reduce our individual and collective waste. We know that waste, and specifically the materials and organics found in waste, is a major contributor to climate change. From October 16 – 22, Canadians everywhere raise awareness on this issue through celebration and experimentation!
“What do you actually DO during Waste Reduction Week?” you ask? Whatever you can! Take a look at what you can do at home, at your workplace, at school, and within your community to reduce waste. It doesn’t have to be big, but it does have to be something! Can you challenge yourself to go a week without using single use plastic? Great! How about setting up that compost bin you always wanted? Awesome!
And be sure to let us know! Tag us on Twitter or Facebook, or leave us a comment and show off the really great things you are doing during Waste Reduction Week. We love seeing people trying out new and sustainable things, and you could win some cool prizes for doing so!
Pumped up and ready to get started with Waste Reduction Week but not quite sure where to start? Read on! Green Action Centre is hosting some really awesome events and have some great tips and tricks to get you started.
