Live well and save money by re-using or re-purposing items and keeping them out of the landfill – and support a local non-profit organization. To support waste reduction and sustainability initiatives in the province, Green Action Centre is holding a Second Chance Market fundraising event as part of its Waste Reduction Week activities.
There will be loads of clothing and a range of small household items, books, cd’s, jewelry, vintage items, toys and more. There will also be a mending station for your well-loved clothing that may need buttons, hems or holes that need mending; a winter bike tune-up station; free Do It Yourself workshops (yes, you can make your own household cleaning and personal care products); and a concession where you can fuel yourself and stay a little longer! There’s a Live Auction at 1:00 PM to highlight some of the gems up for grabs. *Spoiler alert; there’s a kayak that needs a new home…check out the Green Action Centre Facebook event page for more auction items as they’re announced.
Have some stuff you no longer wear, want or have room for?
Donate your used, new, antique and handmade items. Clean clothing, books, movies, music, small housewares, toys, tools & small working appliances will be accepted. NO furniture or items that will not fit in a box or bag please.
Donations can be dropped off at:
Green Action Centre, 3rd floor, 303 Portage Avenue (take the elevator to the 3rd floor), between:
- Monday October 19 – Thursday October 22 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
If you are interested in volunteering for this event please let us know.
We also have a limited number of tables available for $50 or 10% off if you would like to manage your own donations/set up/sales & raise money for your own charity.
I will have my three boys with me, all under twelve.
That’s great Sherri, see you there 🙂
