How did you get to school today?
In order to plan for active school travel, we need to know how we’re doing. BikeWalkRoll replaces the need for time-intensive paper data collection from teachers, replacing all that with a simple 30-second homeroom survey. After completing the survey, your data is instantly pooled with all other surveys, creating a snapshot of how students are getting to school in your class, your school, and even your entire school division.
BikeWalkRoll is free and can be used by any school at any time. Here in Manitoba, Green Action Centre coordinates three Province-Wide Counts each year to see how transportation fluctuates by season. In October, February, and May, teachers do a week of daily BikeWalkRoll surveys. Though it’s simple and automatic for teachers, these surveys provide priceless data to help us, schools, and governments make informed decisions.
