It’s about that time again!
The 2015 Commuter Challenge is almost upon us. It’s time to tighten our shoelaces, fill up our bike tires, and shine our coins for Transit Tom! That’s right folks, we Manitobans are about to sustainably travel like it’s going out of style (but luckily it’s only become cooler by the year)!
From May 31st to June 6th we are calling on all Manitobans to sign up their workplaces up for the Commuter Challenge. For the last 11 years, Manitoba has had the highest participation rate in the country, and we are ready to make this year the twelfth.
We’ve teamed up with the usual suspects and have tons of great prizes up for grabs. You could win weekend passes to the Winnipeg Folk Festival, original artwork by Winnipeg’s own Kal Barteski, an awesome looking commuter bike from Natural Cycle, a SECOND commuter bike from the W.R.E.N.C.H., a stay at the brand new Alt Hotel in downtown Winnipeg, and much much more!
But of course, the Commuter Challenge wouldn’t be the success that it is without the help and dedication of hundreds of Workplace Coordinators throughout the province.
What’s a Workplace Coordinator? Workplace Coordinators are the people who sign up their workplace on the Commuter Challenge tracking site, and then encourage their coworkers to sign up. It’s as simple as that and only takes a few minutes. To help maximize your recruiting, Green Action Centre will be hosting a Workplace Coordinator Orientation and Luncheon on May 12th from 12:00 to 1:00pm in the Carol Shields Auditorium at the Millennium Library. This FREE lunch is a great way to meet other coordinators, get pumped about the challenge, and brainstorm new and fun ways to increase participation at your workplace. We’ll also hear from our Workplace Commuter Options Program to hear how to keep the momentum going throughout the year.
Space is limited so please RSVP to jaret@greenactioncentre.ca!
Can’t wait to participate! I call on ALL fellow Civil Servants to register! See you on the trails!
computer challenge is very ok to an certain extent.
Thanks for the comment Jamie. Feel free to share with us how you think it could be a better and bigger event (ok is good, but awesome is awesomer!). We’d love to chat with you more! Give our coordinator an email or call at jaret@greenactioncentre.ca or 204-925-3772. Nevertheless, hoping you’ll sign up and take part!
