Keep pedalling past the Commuter Challenge right through Bike to Work Day and beyond! Over 3,500 Winnipeggers registered in the 6th annual version of this popular event on friday, June 21st!
That morning, 111 cyclists pedaled their way to Green Action Centre’s Pit Stop in Juba Park along Waterfront Drive at Bannatyne next to the roundabout. Under a treed canopy, folks enjoyed a free muffin from Stella’s, entered to win a $50 Olympia on Portage gift certificate, picked up a copy of the spanky new 2013 Winnipeg Bike Map, and hung out with other people on bikes! There were even complimentary massages from our co-hosts, Waterfront Massage. Life is sweet.

With the new pit stop passport, we had many visitors who had already been to eight or more of the 48 Bike to Work Day Pit Stops in Winnipeg. One intrepid cyclist made it to 22 pit stops that morning!
After work, five hundred cyclists headed down to The Forks for a free BBQ party at the Oodena Celebration Circle. Delicious food was provided by Boon Burger along with prize draws and “Pedal Pusher Ale” from Half Pints microbrewery. Local music was even pumped out to the crowd on a pedal-powered stereo system! Thanks to the folks at Bicycle Valet Winnipeg for taking care of everyone’s bike during this two-wheeled shindig!
Whether you’re headed to work, a Bombers game at the new Investors Group Field or anywhere around Winnipeg, we hope to see you there on your bike!
