Over 4,000 people registered for Bike to Work Day on June 22, 2012 – almost double last year’s figures! No doubt the opportunity to help raise $2,000 for The W.R.E.N.C.H. through MPI’s donation of $0.50 per registrant helped spur some cyclists and the beautiful sunny day didn’t hurt either.
Green Action Centre’s pit stop, one of 38 across the city, was hopping with 117 cyclists stopping by from 6:30 a.m. till after 9:00 that morning. At times it got so busy that we may have missed counting a few.
Check out our Bike to Work Day Wall of Fame below!
About 50 folks posed for a pic with Terra, Green Action Centre’s frog (a.k.a. Adam, all around good sport and intern with our Active and Safe Routes to School program – bet he didn’t know this would be part of the job when he signed on!).
Bike to Work Day wrapped up with a fabulous BBQ party at The Forks, where there was food, music and prizes. Congrats to all who participated – from those who rode to work for the first time to those who commute by bike year-round.
I’d incessantly want to be update on new blog posts on this website,
saved to fav!
Wall of fame pictures rock! If there was a vote, pretty sure the Green Action centre would win for the most fun at a pit stop award. Adam is a good sport! Would it be possible to get a copy of my photo?
Aw, thanks, Karen! We had great fun, too. Sure we can send you a copy of your pic. I’ll connect with you by email to make arrangements.
