Why?

Brakes that are squealing, grinding, pulsating, or pulling the vehicle to one side could be dragging. This means that the brake pad or shoe is not releasing from the disc or drum. This will increase resistance on the vehicle and fuel consumption. It will also result in reduced brake life and effectiveness. Brakes that are not working properly are a serious safety concern, one that should not be ignored.

When?

Consult your owner’s manual for recommendations, however have your brakes inspected immediately at any sign of squealing/grinding or if the vehicle is pulling to one side when the brakes are applied. In addition, if the brake pedal feels “soft” or if you sense a pulsating feeling when you apply the brakes, have them checked.

How do I do this?

Servicing of the brakes needs to be done by a qualified professional.
