Green Action Centre is partnering with the University of Winnipeg and Spence Neighbourhood Association to offer a free workshop on the basics of backyard composting!
Join us at the Langside Learning Garden for info and tips on how to compost at home during this 1 hour workshop. This is also a great opportunity to check out the new space that was established in 2019, which was once a derelict house and empty lot, turned into a community space for learning and collaboration, with gardens incorporating Manitoba plants, Indigenous medicines, pollinator plants, and harvestable plants, such as fruit, vegetables, and herbs.
Did you know that adding organics to the landfill produces methane, a greenhouse gas 25x more powerful than carbon dioxide? By composting, you can produce rich garden fertilizer for free at home, and help save the planet to boot! Composting is an easy-to-learn activity that kids can take part in!
All are welcome! Bring a lunch, and enjoy complimentary drinks and dessert.
