Remember laying on your back looking at the clouds in a field of green grass? This could be you on your lawn this summer, and you don’t have to hire someone to help you get there (nor will you have to worry about what chemicals you’re taking in while enjoying the sunshine).
Our pals over at the Manitoba Eco-Network have an amazing array of tips and resources about organic lawn care, including the history of the Kentucky blue grass lawns we all know so well, how to organically care for your lawn, and ways of choosing the right fertilizer. The also have tools and lawn-care materials to borrow for a $15-refundable deposit through their Lawn Care Library.
Organically caring for your lawn couldn’t be easier, and doing it right early in the season will give you more time to relax throughout our beautiful prairie summer!
No offense please, but honestly I don’t understand how the title relates with the content. But still I enjoyed your post. I will be reading this over and over again.
After organically nurturing our back yard lawn for more years than I care to relate, we decided to dig up a part of it to create some raised beds. The catalyst was the removal of a beautiful old tree that had previously created too much shade to grow much of anything but grass. Now, we have sun! So we can grow something more interesting to us than grass.
But, I’m here to report that one of the keys to a great chemical-free lawn is a strong, deep root system, and while digging out the turf, we certainly noticed the strong, deep roots of the numerous grass varieties that formed a part of our backyard lawn! One of the reasons that it looked so green and lush summer after summer, and why it was able to outcompete the weeds. Organic lawn care is the way to go!
