Walktober is a month-long event for students in October to celebrate and encourage walking and active living. It’s also an opportunity to talk about things that impact our ability to walk, bike or roll. Walkabouts are a great interactive tool to talk about safety, road design, and neighbourhood accessibility with students. These walkabouts are all about walkability – walk through your community to highlight tings like infrastructure, signs, and connectivity.
This short online tutorial is for parents and teachers who want to host a walkabout for your student(s)! We’ll cover all the basics, and give an overview of two models of walkabouts so you can find an approach that will work for your students.
