Chantel Henderson is the former Indigenous Programs Outreach Coordinator for the First Nations Waste Minimization Program from 2020-2022 and represented Green Action Centre on the Board of Directors at the Manitoba Eco-Network. Her prior board experience includes Spence Neighbourhood Association, Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, Centre for Gender Advocacy, and Daniel McIntyre St. Matthews Community Association (aka The West End Resource Centre).
Chantel is a lifelong learner and fledgling entrepreneur. She is the 2nd Indigenous woman to sit on the Board of Directors for Efficiency Manitoba and has degrees in Community Economic Development (Concordia University) and Urban and Inner City Studies (University of Winnipeg). She is also one of the first graduates of the 2020 Catalyst program through the Indigenous Clean Energy Network, a national non-profit that trains Indigenous leaders on developing clean energy projects for their communities.
Her background in the environmental industry includes working for the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, Green Action Centre, 3EYOND Consulting Group, Shared Value Solutions, and AKI Energy. She is passionate about wildlife, conservation of the environment, attending traditional ceremonies, and drumming; she owns an EV, sings karaoke, loves reading autobiographies, and enjoys attending concerts in her spare time.
