GOtober Wrap Up

Thank you to all the GoManitoba users who got out and logged sustainable trips this month! We had 149 participants log 4,776 trips, for a total distance of 38,354 kilometres. That’s a whopping 8.1 tons of CO2 kept out of the atmosphere! We hope that you will continue travelling sustainably as the weather gets colder, and maybe even try out some different modes like skating or skiing.

This GOtober, we had some great presenters offer a ton of helpful transportation tips during our Webinar Wednesdays. A big thank you to Steve, Norm, Mark, and Suzanne for sharing their knowledge! The webinars have all been recorded, and you can find them on the Green Action Centre YouTube page, or linked below.

Tracking the Blue Box
Everyone is curious about what happens to recyclables after they get picked up. Using samples and illustrations, this presentation tracks four common materials (paper, metal, glass, plastic) from blue box through re-processing to end use. With older students, we also critically consider the role of recycling as a resource conservation practice. Our most popular presentation.
