Thanks for the latest “Green Action Centre” email.
The concept of a compost courier intrigues me. Where is the compost delivered? Is there ever a need for a courier backup? If so, I would be interested to learn more about this “green action”.
Hi Victor! Good questions. Our couriers pickup compost from businesses, schools, restaurants, homes, etc and deliver it to a commercial composting facility to be turned into compost. The main facility we use is at Prairie Green Landfill. They operate large, long, windrow composting. As the piles are so large and reach such high temps, they can break down any organic matter (meats, cheese, compostable cutlery and cups, paper plates, compostable bags, etc). This is one of the highlights of Compost Winnipeg service – we can help people compost things that they can’t compost in their backyards.
We certainly do have backup staff. While we are not hiring at the moment, we’d encourage you to stay tuned to our blog, social medial channels, and newsletter. We always share new job postings on those channels.
