Alexa was born and raised in the Okanagan Valley of British-Columbia, where she developed her passion for nature and creative hobbies. In 2017 she moved to Winnipeg to earn her diploma in Graphic Design from RRC Polytech, and spent 5 years working in design and marketing.

In her previous role at the University of Manitoba, she created and lead a Green Team in her department. Alexa and her team implemented office composting, ran a tree-planting fundraiser, hosted a film screening, and promoted sustainable office practices. As a result of her efforts, the University recognized the faculty as “Green Office Certified” and Alexa was awarded with the 2023 Staff Sustainability Award.

Alexa’s experience as a volunteer, along with a life-long interest in environmentalism, prepared her for her current role at GAC, where she educates the public about composting techniques and waste reduction tips.
