Alexa was born and raised in the Okanagan Valley of British-Columbia, where she developed her passion for nature and creative hobbies. In 2017 she moved to Winnipeg to earn her diploma in Graphic Design from RRC Polytech, and has spent the past 5 years working in design and marketing.

In her previous role at the University of Manitoba, she created and lead a Green Team in her department. Alexa and her team implemented office composting, ran a tree-planting fundraiser, hosted a film screening, and promoted sustainable office practices. In 2023, The University recognized the faculty as “Green Office Certified” and Alexa was awarded with that year’s Staff Sustainability Award.

Alexa’s experience as a volunteer prepared her for her current role at GAC, and now she uses her creativity and passion to promote the wonderful world of worms, dirt, and waste reduction!
