Winnipeg’s River Trail now open!

Have you been dreaming of once again skating along our river trail this winter? Well the wait is over! The Forks River Trail opened this week from the Forks to Churchill Drive. The walking and cross-country ski trails will be opening in a couple weeks, however.

The warming huts are expected to be up soon and “are going to be pretty amazing this year,” including one from renowned architect Frank Gehry. To kick off the opening of the trails, events are scheduled this weekend including a shinny hockey tournament, Inukshuk building and more.

The warmer weather had delayed the trail from opening earlier. Therefore, it is advised to check the conditions before heading out. Updates can be found online at: rivertrail.ca or sentierdhiver.ca

Happy Trails!
