Sample Emergency Ride Home Policy

This sample Emergency Ride Home policy comes from a local Winnipeg workplace.

Eligible employees will receive up to 4 (four) emergency taxi rides per calendar year per the rules listed below.

Emergency rides home are available to registered commuter participants and may be used for:

· Urgent medical need (does not include pre-scheduled medical/dental appointments).

· Unanticipated departure of your registered carpool/vanpool

· Personal or family emergency

· Unscheduled overtime

The program is not to be used for pre-scheduled medical or dental appointments, pre-scheduled overtime or any other pre-approved leave.

Instructions for an Emergency Ride Home:

Plan member informs their manager that they will be using the Emergency Ride Home program.

The manager calls Security to inform them that an employee will require a taxi slip for an emergency ride.

The employee calls a (pre-arranged taxi company) taxi for pick up.

Emergency ride home slips have a specific account number for the ERH program.

Taxi company will bill separately for ERH account.

Note: Employees who fail to comply with the terms of the program including falsifying claims or information may be subject to disciplinary action.
