Pesticide legislation has passed!

Bill 55 – The Environment Amendment Act (Reducing Pesticide Exposure) has been passed in the legislature. Green Action Centre is extremely pleased with this news. This Bill will protect Manitobans, especially children, pets and the environment from unnecessary pesticide exposure. Note that Manitoba is the first Western province to pass such legislation!

The next step is for the regulations, which guide the Bill, to be written. This is where you can still provide input. Contact Minister Mackintosh, Minister Blady and the NDP Caucus to let them know you’d like strong regulations to support this legislation.

Also, if you are interested in keeping your lawn natural and maintaining it without harmful pesticides, plan to attend one of Manitoba Eco-Network’s Organic Lawn Care Workshops.
