Commuter Challenge

June 2 – 8, 2019

A week-long challenge that encourages Canadians to choose active and sustainable commutes

Every year in June, over 20,000 Canadians participate in greening their commute during this week-long challenge.

Workplaces and individuals explore sustainable commuting options that benefit people and the planet, such as; walking, running, wheeling, cycling, rollerblading, taking transit, carpooling, and telecommuting.

All you need to do is register and log your sustainable commutes during the week of June 2 – 8, 2019 to participate and win prizes

For Our Planet

Commuting by car is the largest single source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Manitoba. GHG emissions are the leading cause of climate change and air pollution.

For Our Health

Less than half of all Manitobans get enough physical activity. Using sustainable transportation allows people to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines.

For Our Wallet

The average cost to own and operate a vehicle can range from $8,500 – $11,500 or higher each year based on the typical 18,000 km driven. Choose alternative modes to save money.
