What better way to find the bright side of winter than to try out some of these winter activities. There’s not one, but four events to have fun at, and by getting outside and moving around, you’re sure to stay warm too!

First, celebrate Winter Walk Day at the Forks on Saturday, February 8th. Sip on some free hot chocolate and make new winter memories with your friends and families.

Sign up your family, co-workers or friends to take on The Jack Frost Challenge the week of February 8-14. Ski, skate, walk, bike, snowshoe your way to cool prizes!

Save the date for the premiere wintertime active transportation conference, the Winter Cycling Congress, on February 12-14, 2014! Join us at The Forks National Historic Site for idea-packed sessions full of projects, unique best practices research, interactive workshops, lively discussion and fun evening activities. Professionals and delegates from snowy countries around the world are gathering to share their skills and knowledge. Come learn what it takes to create, promote, maintain and sustain vibrant bike-friendly cities through out the year.

Get a chance to live what you learned at the Cycling Congress and celebrate a wintry Friday with Winter Bike to Work Day! As you cycle to work, there will be pit stops with coffee and treats along the way to enjoy.

Finally, bring out the whole family for some fun at the Family Winter Cycling Celebration at the Forks on Friday, February 14th! Everyone is invited to attend, including schools and after school programs, from 4pm-7pm for workshops, a winter River Trail ride, hot cocoa and S’mores by the bonfire. There will also be a kid friendly clinic on winter cycling with MEC’s Flaming Cheetahs, Kids of Mud coaches. Schools can request an earlier workshop time by calling 204-943-4202 (ex 223).
