Our Mobility Fair for Older Adults was a success! A huge thanks is in order for The Winnipeg Foundation for making this event possible!

Our event kicked off at 10am, with folks beginning to drop in right away. Vendors were spilt up between a section of the parking lot, for outdoor demonstrations, and a room within the community centre. Folks picked up small handouts and information packages from indoor vendors. It was wonderful to see folks discover new organizations, meet new people, try out equipment and chat amongst themselves. We met older folks who were cyclists, used mobility aids, or were just curious about the different vendors. We also had people drop in who were inquiring for their parents or for folks they worked with, like a handful of occupational therapists.  We were also happy to get a visit from Councillor Janice Lukes. Thanks for stopping by Councillor Lukes! On top of everything, we were lucky enough to have lovely weather for the whole day.

Overall, including the two hosting organizations, Green Action Centre and Transportation Options Network for Seniors, we had 10 vendors join us. These included:

  • Peg City Car Co-op
  • Winnipeg Transit
  • Easy Streets
  • Bike Winnipeg
  • Plain Bicycle
  • The WRENCH
  • Reliable Mobility
  • HART
  • Active Aging in Manitoba
  • Canadian National Institute for the Blind

We hope to be able to hold another event like this in the future and bring similar events to different neighborhoods in the city! Let us know in the comments which neighborhood needs an event like this!
