Over the past 10+ years, we have worked with many employers, such as Assiniboine Credit Union, Boeing Winnipeg, Transport Canada, Victoria General Hospital, University of Winnipeg, and University of Manitoba.
Since 2009, Assiniboine Credit Union has contracted Green Action Centre to conduct annual employee commuting surveys and, in the first year, establish benchmarks to assist with setting targets. Commuting options improvements at their locations, based in great part on feedback gathered from these annual surveys, has resulted in a meaningful shift in the number of ACU employees choosing green and active commuting over the past six years. Increased transit use and carpooling have led to significantly fewer staff driving alone to w
work. Read the full story on ACU’s results.
“Over the last six years, Assiniboine Credit Union has used employee commuting surveys developed in conjunction with Green Action Centre’s Workplace Commuter Options program to create and implement a number of green and active commuting initiatives. They have provided ACU with great ideas for engaging our employees year-round on the health and wellness (and financial) benefits of green and active commuting. Our programs are more effective than ever because of our partnership with Green Action Centre.”
– Dennis Cunningham, Manager, Environmental Sustainability, Assiniboine Credit Union
The University of Manitoba‘s Office of Sustainability contracted Green Action Centre in 2015-16 to conduct a transportation survey of its entire community of approximately 40,000 people. This included multiple campus locations and four member categories, from students and faculty to staff and non-University employees (SmartPark). The resulting data, analysis and recommendations are feeding into development of the University’s sustainable transportation plan.
“Green Action Centre’s team brought energy, creativity and professional insight to the transportation analysis process at the University of Manitoba. Through the design, delivery and marketing of a comprehensive survey they provided us with a detailed picture of how our campus moves, an understanding of the mobility barriers and opportunities our community faces, and a set of actionable and strategic proposals for change. Green Action Centre’s work set the stage for us to make efficient progress on supporting sustainable transportation at the University.”
– Ian Hall, Director, Office of Sustainability, University of Manitoba
