Jack Frost Challenge for Kids has come to a close and we have our snow sculptures winners ready to share! This year, our participants managed to brave the cold weather we experienced in Manitoba during our Jack Frost Challenge and surprise the Green Action Centre with some incredible snow sculptures. We have selected two winners for the classroom category and the individual/family category.
Ms. Leferink’s grade 4 class from Calvin Christian were the winners of the classroom category! They had submitted 4 different snow sculptures, each using different colours! They were also creative to use frozen water balloons in their sculpture and added our JFC logo to their picture too. They have won a classroom lunch from Flying Pizza with dessert from For Us Bakery.
Mr. Bohémier and his students at Ecole Marie-Anne Gaboury are our runner up class! With their teamwork and planning, they were able to build a 50ft x 50ft maze in the school yard. What a fun way to spend outdoor recess! Mr. Bohémier’s class won a pizza lunch from Santa Ana Pizzeria and Bistro!
Our individual winner is Braeden, with his giant canoe snow sculpture! We were impressed with his use of snow tools and the scale of the project. Great to see youth getting out and enjoying the winter months. He has won two passes to Activate!
In second place is the McLean family, as they paid homage to Inuit heritage by building an Inukshuk! Their Inukshuk was huge and there seemed to have been a lot of heavy lifting involved. The McLean family has won a gift card to Oh Donuts for all their efforts.
Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who had entered. We know it was a freezing cold week but we are so proud you still took time to participate in the Jack Frost Challenge. Stay warm and we look forward to seeing everyone again next winter!
