Registration is Open for Bike Everywhere Month! Unlock an activity kit, chances to win prizes and celebrate the beginning of spring and the first of three spring events for Green Action Centre.
May is Bike Everywhere Month at Green Action Centre. Previously branded as Bike to School Month, we switched it up after the pandemic to be more inclusive, and to stress the importance of biking everywhere! Participants will receive an activity kit to complement the theme of cycling throughout the month. Wondering where to start? Here are a few ideas:
- Start a bike bus for one week with other parents/ teachers for kids in your neighborhood.
- Bike to activities and appointments with kids
- Try going on a bike ride after supper to get some fresh air and exercise before bed.
For teachers
- Incorporate a lesson from the Active and Safe Routes to School Handbook into your curriculum for the month.
- Bike to school yourself to encourage participation
- Greet your students at the bike racks at the start of each day
- Make a “scoreboard” to keep track of how many bike trips your students have made throughout the month. It doesn’t have to be competitive and can just be fun!
