The Manitoba Climate Action Team presents… The Future of Feasting!
How does the food we buy and grow in Manitoba affect our climate?
What does the future of our food look like in a zero-carbon world?
To prepare for and respond to the climate emergency, we will need to feed ourselves locally without synthetic fertilizers and without diesel for the machinery. How can we do that? What is being done to move us in that direction now? Agriculture may contribute about ⅓ of Manitoba’s greenhouse gas emissions but it is also a huge part of the solution. What is needed to achieve that goal and still enable farmers to stay on the land?

Learn and be inspired in breakout sessions and participate in a discussion with a panel of food system experts as we try to come to grips with the challenge of feeding ourselves with sustainability in mind.

This event is organized by the Climate Action Team with support from the Winnipeg Foundation and Red River College.
The Climate Action Team is a group of like-minded organizations who came together after the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) 1.5 Report was released in October 2018, stating we have just 12 (now 11) years to act to drastically cut greenhouse gas emissions. Our goal is to foster conversation around climate change in Manitoba and educate and encourage commitment to climate action – both in terms of mitigating impacts and preparing for a changing climate.
