A Green New Deal is finally coming to Canada and we need your help to bring it to life in Manitoba.
There is a community conversation for the Green New Deal coming up in Winnipeg on Thursday May 23rd from 7pm – 9pm. Please RSVP to let us know that you can make it!
The specific goals of this event are:
- To serve as an initial coalition building event around a GND for organizations, organizers, and folks interested in working on GND organizing in Winnipeg towards and beyond the federal election
- To bring forward previous and existing campaigns, projects, consultations, organizations, and work done in Winnipeg that aligns with the principles of a GND that we could lift up as examples of the future we’re fighting for throughout this campaign
- To build organizational input in and momentum towards a larger, public speaker event on a GND in late June
There is an exciting conversation growing about a BOLD vision for social and climate justice that aims to bring a Green New Deal to Canada! Just this past week, over 60 groups in Canada have launched a Pact for a Green New Deal and the National youth-led Our Time campaign has already brought thousands of young people together since the launch of the campaign last month.
We need this movement to continue to grow and for that to happen we need you to join us.
So much of the work that amazing organizations in our community have been working on and advocating for culminates so well into what the just transition that the GND is working towards. This is such an important conversation to bring together our work that is happening across different sectors. We need a united movement ahead of the upcoming 2019 Federal Election and we need it to be rooted in social & environmental justice.
