Manitoba Conservation is consulting Manitobans on the use of cosmetic pesticides in Manitoba. Make your voice heard for the sake of our health, our children and the environment. To help get people to participate, Cosmetic Pesticide Ban Manitoba has put together a video called Dandelions Dream Big:

This is an important issue for our health, our children and our environment. In May 2012, the Ontario College of Family Physicians issued a systematic review of pesticide health effects and found links to significant health issues including cancer, asthma, lung disease and neuro-development. Children, the elderly and pregnant women are most at risk. (see the Government consultation document Play It Safe, p. 4).

Several other provinces already prohibit the use of toxic chemical pesticides for cosmetic use on lawns and gardens. Information, including why a ban is important, who already supports the campaign, as well as a sample letter to send to the Minister is available at: http://cosmeticpesticidebanmb.wordpress.com/

An easy to sign online petition is also available through Change.org.
