Why Clean Air Day?
Clean Air Day is an opportunity to celebrate a healthy environment and learn about the importance of clean air. The Clean Air Day handbook, created by Green Action Centre in collaboration with Health Canada, contains all the information needed in order to bring Clean Air Day to your community. Whether you are an educator, parent, guardian or fellow organization, this handbook is for you!
The Air Quality Health Index
The Air Quality Health Index is a tool used to measure Air Quality in any given area. Coordinated by Health Canada and Environment Canada, It is calculated based on the relative risks of three common air pollutants that are known to harm human health: Ozone (O
3), Fine Particulate Matter (PM2.5), and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2). The index acts as an important resource when planning an outdoor event, such as Clean Air Day. With stronger weather events occurring due to a changing climate, tools like this one are more important than ever. You can check it out for yourself here.
