The Canadian Environment Week Act states that every year throughout Canada, the week that includes June 5 shall be kept and observed under the name of Canadian Environment Week. Historically, Canadian Environment Week has been one of Environment and Climate Change’s key events during the year. During Canadian Environment Week, Canadians proactively seek out information on the environment.

Wednesday, June 5th of Canadian Environment Week is Clean Air Day!  This is a day to celebrate clean air and good health. It’s also a day to recognize how important good air quality is to our health, our environment, and the economy. Many communities and organizations host Clean Air Day events and activities. These help promote simple actions and lifestyle choices Canadians can take to reduce air pollution.

Here’s how you can celebrate with us!

Clean Air Day at the Bridge  – Join the Green Action Centre team during your morning commute to help us celebrate Clean Air Day. We’ll be set up on the Legislative Building grounds right by the Osborne Bridge with fresh coffee, treats, and lots of information about the Commuter Challenge from 6:45 am – 9:15 am!

We will be joined by our friends at Coop Vélo-CitéBike Week Winnipeg, and Functional Transit Winnipeg to provide bike repairs and information. Guests can enjoy treats from Tall Grass Prairie and Oh Doughnuts, along with coffee from Fools & Horses and juice from Verde Juice Bar.

We will also have Bicycle Valet Service & an Interactive Art Installation by Peg Notes!

Make sure to bring your travel mug and reusable water bottle.

Clean Air Day for Schools – On June 5th, teachers will be bringing hundreds of students to Kildonan Park (Site #12 & Fox Picnic Shelter) from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm for Green Action Centre’s fourth annual Clean Air Day event for schools.
