Master Composter Course
Are you passionate about sustainability and community engagement?
The Master Composter Course will teach you everything you need to know to become a compost ambassador.
Course Overview
The goal of the course is to provide community members with the necessary knowledge to maintain their own compost bin and educate others about the value and benefits of composting. As a Master Composter, you join an active community of environmentalists, gardeners, and earth-conscious people.
After completing the 5-day course, you are required to complete 30 hours of compost-related volunteer activities within 2 years. This could include (but is not limited to) providing composting presentations, running a school or workplace composting program, or answering questions at a Green Action Centre booth at various events.
In the course, you will learn about the following topics:
- Backyard composting
- Vermicomposting
- Industrial/large-scale composting
- Environmental benefits
- Soil health
- Compost microbiology
- Volunteering basics
Course Dates
Course days will happen in person over two weekends. Stay tuned for locations and course schedules!
Days 1 & 2: September 19, 20
Days 3–5: September 25, 26, 27
Application requirements
We are looking for passionate individuals who want to spread awareness and inspire others to take action through composting. We encourage individuals of all backgrounds and ability levels to apply for the course. No prior experience is required.
Application & Reference forms coming soon!
*The reference form should be completed separately by the person providing the referral. The selected person of reference should have a well-established relationship with the applicant such as an employer, a volunteer coordinator, academic instructor/teacher or other similar contact. The reference form cannot be completed by a friend or family member.
If accepted, there will be a fee of $100. If you require financial assistance, do not hesitate to contact us as subsidies may be available.
Applications will be open from July 11–27.
Applicants will be notified about admittance in August 2025.
