Green Action Centre Remembers

November 11, 2015

Remembrance Day is a time when Canadians reflect on the meaning of peace, conflict and service to community, locally and globally.

“At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them.”

There are many Remembrance Day services occurring throughout the City and Province. If you can, try to attend one in honor of this important tradition in our country.

One retail store has decided to stand up to consumerism in honor of Remembrance Day.  Read the story about how in St. Pierre-Joly, the BigWay Foods has banned all Chirstmas sales until after Remembrance Day and the community has reacted with a sigh of respectful approval.  Consumerism dominates many, many aspects of our lives.  In this case, I think we can agree that spending can wait.  Lest We Forget.
