Thanks to Health Canada, Green Action Centre will be offering free classroom presentations that focus on Air Quality. Health Canada’s Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) is a public information tool that helps Canadians protect their health on a daily basis from the negative effects of air pollution. These presentations are free of charge for Grades k-6 classrooms in Winnipeg, with a maximum of 30 students.

What’s Hiding in our Air? is a 60-minute presentation for Grades 1-6 with an outdoor component. Using high-tech tools that measure air quality around your school, this presentation will engage children in fun, science-based discussions on ways to improve our air with more emissions-free travel including cycling and walking.

In May and June of 2016, our Active and Safe Routes to School Program provided free AQHI presentations to 53 Winnipeg classrooms from grades K-7. This program highlighted the effects of motorized transportation on Air Quality.

Teacher Feedback included the following:

“The fieldwork component was fantastic…”

” Perfect for all curriculum study…”

“Please continue with the in school presentations.”
