“It is no exaggeration to say that Manitobans all across the province have benefited from the education and advocacy undertaken by Peter and Carolyn,” writes their nominator Randall McQuaker and former executive director for Green Action Centre. On issues of waste reduction, city planning, water quality, climate change, renewable energy and more, Miller and Garlich have been “uncommonly busy on the ground”. They’ve organized countless events, written letters to the editor, served on community boards and presented at public hearings, actions that have led to policy shifts and practical change.

Protecting Our Earth_ArtworkHe notes they have also led by example in their personal lives through, for example, waste reduction practices (composting, recycling reducing consumption) and sustainable transportation (taking transit and biking).

Everyone at Green Action Centre shares in the gratitude for Peter and Carolyn’s unflagging commitment to creating a greener Manitoba for everyone. Peter’s involvement with the Centre extends back to its roots in the mid-1980s and continues today as acting chair of our Policy Committee and as a board member most recently from 2008-2014. Carolyn is also a past member of the board and Policy Committee, and represented Green Action Centre at meetings with elected officials and government policy staff. Thank you!
