With the arrival of summer, I can’t stop thinking abou fresh, local food from one of Winnipeg’s growing number of farmer’s markets. From local corn on the cob to tomatoes, cucumbers and herbs, the taste of fresh, in-season veggies really cannot be compared. If I’m making you hungry, find your local farmer’s market courtesy of the Farmers’ Markets Association of Manitoba Co-ops. You can also click here to check out what’s in season month by month.

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)

CSAs bring local food growers together with consumers looking for fresh, high quality local food. To join a CSA, choose a farm you are interested in, purchase a share that is paid directly to the farmer at the start of the growing season, and receive fresh, local vegetables weekly or biweekly.
