End: May 7, 2017 4:00 pm

Venue: Fort Whyte Alive!
Winnipeg

Kick off International Compost Awareness Week with us! Only one week before Mother’s Day, we’re encouraging you to do something for Mother Earth in the second week of May.

Come watch Dirt! The Movie with us at Fort Whyte Alive, and then stay after to learn about how you can make your own dirt through composting! We’ll have Compost Winnipeg there, a presenter from Fort Whyte to talk about vermicomposting, and Jen from Nature’s Perfect Plant Food will have some vermicomposting kits for sale. This is the perfect time to launch that composting program at your home that you’ve been putting off, because Fort Whyte also has Earth Machines and kitchen collector buckets for sale, and Green Action Centre is selling compost aerators for only $20.

Before you leave, don’t forget to pick up some FREE finished compost, donated by the City of Winnipeg, to fertilize your garden or lawn while you wait for your own bin to mature. Bring your own container if possible please! (psst, this is great compost and would be a perfect gift for that Mother in your life who loves gardening).

This event is open to families of all ages, but please be aware that the documentary is 80 minutes long and we ask you to use your discretion as to whether it is the right fit for your children.
